A Girl and her (bedazzled) Guitar

Sasha battled Ewing’s sarcoma with a strength that felt larger than life.

But if you asked her who she was, she wouldn’t have said “cancer patient.”

She was a singer. A songwriter. A dreamer with melodies in her heart and lyrics always forming on her lips.

Music wasn’t just something she loved. It was who she was. Even in hospital rooms. Even between treatments. Even on the hardest days.

She never stopped singing.

When I learned how deeply she loved music, I knew I wanted to create something as special as she was. So I made her a handmade, bedazzled guitar, sparkling and bold, with a custom strap in her favorite colors. It shimmered the the way she did.

She had plans for it. Big plans.

She was going to use it in her first music video. She talked about that video with excitement and vision, like it was already unfolding in front of her. She saw stages. Lights. A future filled with songs that would reach people’s hearts.

Because that’s what Sasha did. She reached hearts.

Pediatric cancer took her far too early. Far too young. A loss that will never make sense. A silence that feels too heavy for a world that still needs her music.

But here’s what cancer never took:

  • Her fight.
  • Her voice.
  • Her light.

Sasha never stopped fighting. She never stopped singing. Even when her body was tired, her spirit was not.

She was an angel on earth. And now, we imagine heaven a little louder. A little brighter. A little more beautiful because she is there.

Her guitar still sparkles.

And so does her legacy.
